What is saved, and what remains to do

Accessible HTML pages and selected publisher PDFs are stored as dated research copies with original URLs, resolved URLs and checksums. Copies remain in the project’s private research files; this public library links readers to the original publishers. Video, audio, image and document links are also retained for later review. Embedded media is not downloaded with the page. The selected PDF acquisition includes issues linked by the Nez Perce Tribe’s newspaper archive; it does not imply that every issue mentions Wallowa County.

Search aids for unreviewed items are inferred from titles and URLs. They can miss a community or misclassify a topic. Collection totals describe this inventory, not everything published about the county. Access failures remain visible, and a successful page capture does not guarantee that every embedded asset or dynamically loaded passage was preserved.

Further work includes item-level historical newspaper searches, tribal publications, schools, religious communities, labor and family histories, current local reporting, and voices beyond institutional leadership. Help us follow another thread ↗
