Joseph’s public life extends from the library and school to workshops, exhibits, and businesses along Main Street. Bronze casting is part of the town’s working economy as well as its artistic identity.

The county museum occupies the former First Bank of Joseph. The Josephy Center and its library connect contemporary arts with historical collections. Maxville Heritage brings the story of a logging community into a downtown interpretive space.

A town’s story is also told through ordinary routines: borrowing a book, attending a meeting, going to school, and making a living. This introduction places those routines alongside the landscape that attracts visitors.
