The Grange describes itself as “a community based, fraternal organization that enjoys working to support the needs of our Wallowa County community,” and says it “was chartered on the Fifth of February, 1923.” Its About page says the hall “was constructed by Grange workers in 1926 and the dining room added in the early 1950’s,” while its home page dates the hall “around 1927”; both are the Grange’s own statements. It meets the second Tuesday at 6 p.m. at 82930 Airport Lane, about two miles west of Joseph, serves an all-you-can-eat breakfast on the second Saturday, and belongs to Wallowa County Pomona Grange #22, the Oregon State Grange and the National Grange. In January 2021 it replaced the hall floor with red oak using a $5,000 State Grange matching grant.
No officers are named on the Grange’s site. The state registration in its name dates from 1946 and is a filing date, distinct from the 1923 charter.
