The Alliance describes itself as a nonprofit corporation formed in the spring of 2004 by a small group of musicians and educators. Its stated purpose is to foster music communities in Wallowa County by connecting music educators with students and widening participation in music of all genres, with particular emphasis on youth education.
Its published programs are Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp, a family week each July at the Wallowa School campus, run every summer since 2005; the Courthouse Concert Series, free on Thursday evenings through the summer on the courthouse lawn in Enterprise, since 2006; Tunesmith Night, a monthly showcase of original music at the Enterprise Odd Fellows Hall from October through May, since the fall of 2006; Eagle Cap Youth Musicals; and Juniper Jam, the one-day festival it has run since 2009. It also directs part of its contributions to a scholarship fund for private music lessons and gives recorders to fourth-graders in the county’s three school districts each fall.
Program dates and venues change from season to season; read the current calendar from the organizer. The Alliance’s description of its purpose is its own, not an independent account of its reach.
